9/2/06 Updating websites... finally. Currently recording with VGS & 3WM for upcoming projects. Not having much luck writing anything, but that's ok right now. To take pressure off myself, it'll happen when it happens. Until then, look for me at some upcoming shows. Thanks & see you soon.
6/25/06 Trying to figure out where to go next... thinking of doing some more acoustic shows to re-group. Work is (still) progressing on 3WM & VGS recordings. Now, thanks to Trolll, it may go a bit faster/better. Thanks, thanks a lot. I need to go pick up my guitar & get offline or nothing will get done.
12/12/05 Work has finally begun on what might become my solo CD. Won't know until I dig in a little more, but right now I'm trying to put some older songs to rest that never got the proper recorded treatment. After that, I hope to warm up to some more experimental ideas. My old friend Josh Eller came by & played some bass on a few songs the other day, so that will give them a different feel. The new 3WM demo is progressing at the same time. Basic live tracks are done & overdubs will commence to give a more complete idea of what they should sound like. They will be posted on the 3WM website as they are done & probably given away at upcoming shows. Congrats to Art & Leah for the birth of their beautiful daughter, Kennedy Simone. Finally, here's a little holiday cheer for you from my son Luke (Duke)... Have a great Christmas & New Year.
8/17/05 August already. Hmm. I've been playing a few solo shows & trying to write some new tunes (most of which are making their way into Three Wheel Motion). Thanks to Troll for keeping me company in WV. I'm hoping to take some time & record some solo tracks soon for the ever-upcoming solo CD. Maybe I can block out a weekend & hole up downstairs. Speaking of downstairs, the music room is now my son Luke's favorite place to spend his time. He's quite fond of the drums (sticks, not brushes of course) & the guitars (diga-diga-diguars as he calls them). I've got a few sound bites of him that I'll post soon. He's writing songs about lawnmowers (oh-meez) & we've co-written a few already. I'm addicted to tater tots & bad summertime TV... Rockstar:INXS, Real World Austin, the 4400... just waiting for bad fall TV to come back on... Nip/Tuck, Desperate Housewives, Lost. Ugh. This is sounding like a blog. Blegh. See you soon...
3/22/05 As soon as I get over this sinus congestion, I'll be back out playing some more solo shows. Gotta dust off the old lyric sheets, cause I haven't played by myself for a while... not "with myself", but "by myself". I'll be adding some new piano songs to the setlist as well as a few new tunes & new covers. "Three Wheel Motion" is back up & running with Sam Janes on bass & Darren Fielder on keys full time, so look for more shows in the near future. We're writing some new songs & working on some new covers & Darren songs. The CD will be released in May so there will be a number of CD release parties. I'm playing keys in John's new project "Van Gogh Sky" and the songs are coming along nicely. More laid back than the old Attic Down stuff, but also a little funkier. Look for a live recording in the near future. My son Luke has now added harmonica & guitar (ukulele actually) to his list of the many instruments that he is soon to be the master of. He does a great Pete Townshend impression with the guitar. See you soon...
9/26/04 This weekend I had a chance to meet one of my oldest influences, the swamp fox himself, Tony Joe White. I attended one of his rare concerts in Nashville & snuck into the green room after the show where I gave him a 3WM CD with our cover of his song 'Widow Wimberly', got a signature & a pic. He was very friendly & accepting of my geek nature. I've been covering his songs for a long time & I've waited half my life to see him live. Here's some pics...
9/17/04 Been spending most of my time with my son, so not much to report. The 3WM CD is done except for mastering, so that will be released soon. Haven't had much time for any new songs to come through, so hopefully I'll have some ideas built up by the time I get around to it. In the meantime, here's some new pics of Luke & my influence on him...
4/14/04 Work is going well on a few new songs. Don't know what project they'll end up on, but I'll post some demos here as soon as I get them done. Three Wheel Motion has recently worked up a version of 'The Prize' (the demo of which can be found on the mp3 page), look for that and a few other new ones at upcoming shows. 3WM has been invited to play at Berea College's annual 'Earth Roots Festival'. Although this will be a pale comparison to the earlier ER's that we have been involved in, I encourage everyone to come out & celebrate with us. We play early (11 a.m.), but the weather forcast looks good. We will be playing somewhere around the Alumni Bldg. Listen for the tunes. Luke is growing like a weed & I'm a part-time, stay-at-home Dad now, so we're both trying to figure things out. See you soon...
2/3/04 Well, the waiting is over... My son Luke Hayden Seals was born on February 1st at 10:02 p.m. His mother & I are settling in with our new family member and trying to get into our new routine. Below is a picture that my mother-in-law took about 1-2 minutes after his birth. Thanks to family & friends who have made the last 9 months so great, I'm glad we can share this time with you all. Listen closely to the next few mp3s that I post, you're likely to hear some strange "ambient" noises in the background closely resembling a baby crying. Hope he's in key. See you soon...
1/30/04 I'm still waiting on Jr. to get here. Any day (or minute) now... I've been working on some piano covers that you'll hear at the upcoming Coffee Conspiracy gigs in Feb. as well as beginning some new originals. John (my bandmate from Attic Down) has a new batch of acoustic songs that I'm having fun playing piano and percussion on. We'll be recording some demos of these soon, so I hope to post some mp3s. Look for some other new mp3s later this month. Can't wait to get back out playing, see you soon...
11/19/03 I've just returned from Barrick Recording in Glasgow, KY where I was laying down tracks with Three Wheel Motion for our upcoming debut CD. We recorded 11 songs. All the basic tracks were cut live and we'll be doing some overdubs in the coming months. Some of the rough mixes will be available soon in the MP3 section. We're all very excited about this project and look forward to putting it out. In related 3WM news, we'll be taking some time off through the holidays and the beginning of the year to take a breath and get our bearings back. In December, I'll be assisting Darren Fielder on beginning the new Ornamental Concrete record. We hope to have the drum tracks finished by Christmas (courtesy of Mason Cornelison) and continue working on overdubs through the new year. There will be a wide variety of guest stars on this record and I'll keep you posted on progress. And last but not least, Baby Seals (still untitled) will be born in January. I'll try not to get too mushy and post a million pics, but I'll let you know about the progress. I'm playing lots of music for him right now and he seems to be dancing quite a bit, so this may bode ill for my sleep schedule. See you soon...
